What customers say?

“ Dining at this omakase restaurant in Fukuoka was an outstanding experience centered on the purity of flavor and excellence of ingredients. The chef sourced seasonal seafood from different prefectures across Japan, ensuring each course highlighted the finest catches at their peak. The menu was thoughtfully prepared and presented, with clear explanations of each fish’s origin. This detailed approach allowed me to truly appreciate the regional variety and subtle differences in taste and texture. The craftsmanship was precise and traditional, free from unnecessary embellishments. Every piece of nigiri was balanced perfectly, letting the freshness of the fish and the seasoning of the rice speak for themselves. It was a simple yet deeply satisfying style of omakase that honored tradition and quality first. For anyone seeking a refined and authentic sushi experience in Fukuoka, this restaurant is a must-visit ”

“ A great omakase experience, thanks to the fantastic team at Sushi Souten. It’s definitely setup for you to take photo of the delicious and fresh sushi. Each sushi has description of how they made it and where the ingredients are from - love this ! The sushi is also placed on a beautiful plate for you to take nice photos . Again something I appreciated Overall, a great exclusive experience. Sushi was very fresh and tasty. Each one is a culinary and taste experience itself. In the top 3 Omakase experience that I had so far. Don’t think this is suitable for young kids and you definitely need to make reservation to dine here. They accept credit cards. It’s quite conveniently located. Next to the Canal City Mall. Recommended. ”

“ This is a sushi omakase restaurant with the usual Japanese level service. It slightly diverges from the tradition, offering sushi with unique sauces, as well as matsutake and eel soup as part of the course. The portion is generous, as you can see from the sea urchin roll. Their Yari Ika (squid) is especially interesting, their version is slightly torched that not only brought out the fragrance of the squid, but also tenderises it. The piece is soft and flavourful, best version of squid I have ever tasted. Chefs are respectful and friendly, their waiters understand English, and their menu also has English version. Great restaurant, I recommend. ”

“ Went for lunch omakase. It was 17 items or courses. They were all exceptional in flavor and texture. You would eat one and have to contemplate what goodness you just ate! I won’t go through all the meals as it would be a short story by the time I would finish. So here are the dishes that stood out to me! Yari Ika (squid) - The texture of squid can be chewy but this was soft and easy to eat - It felt like eating little soft bubbles of squid. Tennen Hiramasa (amberjack with miso) - great flavor and the little dollop of miso was a great combination Otoro Aburi (seared fatty tuna) - all the seared dishes at this place were phenomenal. The binchotan really brings out the smoky flavor without overpowering the fish. The seared dishes I usually get are done with a torch and you get that after taste of butane/gas flavor, not here they do a quick char that enhances the flavors. There was a uni dish and a clam dish that was not on the menu both really stood out. Uni can be fishy and too salty this was fresh and tastes like a clean bite of the ocean! Clams can be chewy but the clam dish was texturally great. Get your reservations for this place for lunch or dinner but much omakase is a great deal!!! ”

“ Sushi Souten delivers an exceptional omakase experience in a cozy, intimate setting—just 10 counter seats, which means personalized service and attention to detail throughout. The quality of the sushi is top-tier. The fish was incredibly fresh, premium-grade, and beautifully prepared. There were two sushi chefs working in perfect harmony, like a culinary symphony—swift, precise, and elegant. I also appreciated that some dishes were grilled, thanks to their in-house grill—a wonderful touch for someone like me who enjoys grilled fish. My favorite bite of the night? The bluefin tuna toro topped with shaved truffles. Absolutely mind-blowing. I never imagined that combination could work so well—it was luxurious, rich, and unforgettable. Another thoughtful detail was the laminated card placed in front of each diner, describing each sushi piece—its name, origin, and special ingredients. It elevated the experience and made each bite more meaningful. In total, I had around 20 pieces of sushi, which makes this one of the most value-for-money omakase experiences I’ve had—even compared to those in Tokyo or Osaka. Sushi Souten is a hidden gem that I would go back to in a heartbeat. ”

“ We had an amazing experience here. Reservations were easy to make online. The lunch omakase was amazing and very good value for money. The Sawara was the standout nigir for me I had to order another piece. The staff was also able to communicate well in English. Highly recommended! ”
